If you are taking one of my intermediate- level 2 watercolor classes ,You will want to bring the following:
Please have available: one pad or block of Strathmore, Arches or Fabriano 140 lb cold pressed watercolor paper -Recommended sizes are @ 9 x 12 or 11 x 14
Paints:
I recommend using Winsor & Newton, Daniel Smith, Golden QOR watercolor paints
Please have available one small paint tube of each color of watercolor paints:
Permanent Alizarin Crimson (also known as Anthraquinoid Red) – a cool purplish red
Scarlet Lake (also known as vermillion) a warm red that leans to an orange/red
Quinacridrone red - brilliant red that is warmer than permanent alizarin crimson.
Winsor Blue (a green shade—also known as phthalo blue - green) – a cool blue with hints of green
Winsor Blue ( red shade_ also known as phthalo blue - red) - a slightly warmer, staining blue which creates beautiful purples
French Ultramarine (a warmer purplish/ sedimentary blue color)
Hansa Yellow (or Lemon Yellow) – a cool yellow
New Gamboge Yellow (a warm yellow with hints of orange)
Yellow Ochre - a sedimentary yellow
Feel free to bring other wc paint colors that you like, also!
BRUSHES for watercolors : 1 acrylic taklon round brush - my favorite sizes are 10,12 or 14
+ 1” wide flat brush, 1 cheap brush to be used with friskit/ mask products in a medium size of about 6 - 8
PALETTE: 1 white plastic palette with large mixing areas + any WHITE large- plastic or foam plate/tray suitable for mixing paints on.
WATER CONTAINERS: You will need : Two jars or plastic containers for water.
OTHER ITEMS: For in person program, please have some kind of table cover ie, plastic table sheet, table cloth, large trash bag anything to keep your paint area clean.
Please bring scissors or an Xacto knife, a 4B (soft) drawing pencil and an eraser.
1 jar or bottle of a masking agent such as by Winsor & Newton or "Incredible White Mask"
1 jar of either Golden or Liquitex heavy body ( thick) acrylic medium for attaching collage paper when doing mixed media.
